The Skills to Foster Assessment: Family and Friends Foster Care

7305 - The Skills to Foster Assessment: Family and Friends Foster Care

Make sure you meet statutory requirements by adopting this innovative family and friends assessment model.

Under the new fostering regulations and guidance, family and friends foster care has been given a much higher priority, with far greater assessment compliance required. Developed as part of the Fostering Network's highly successful The Skills to Foster series (which has become the by-word for pre-approval training), the family and friends assessment model provides a more practical based approach to assessing this unique group of potential foster carers.

The assessment model is available in downloadable format and the package includes implementation support for your team as well as a set of the All You Need To Know: Family and Friends Foster Care handbooks. The model links closely with the Training, Support and Development Standards for Family and Friends Foster Carers, enabling up to 70 per cent of the Standards to be met through collecting evidence for the assessment.
A matrix is provided as one of the accompanying tools, which cross references the assessment with the Standards.

The forms are modular and meet the regulatory requirements for four different assessment types – temporary approval of a connected person, Special Guardianship Order, Residence Order and the full family and friends fostering assessment.
